The Jackman Scholarship for Child and Youth Development is open to doctoral students in the Faculty of Health who are conducting community-engaged research and related scholarly and creative activities in the field of Child and Youth Development. Applicants must be affiliated with the LaMarsh Centre for Child and Youth Research. Applicants must be supervised by a faculty member who is an active member of LaMarsh in good standing. Applicants must have a minimum A- GPA. The proposed research must be:
i) focused on child and youth development
ii) community-engaged
iii) aligned with the LaMarsh mission
Priority will be given to applicants with proposed projects focused on at-risk children.
Dr. Jackman is the founding chair of the Psychology Foundation of Canada and heads the Jackman Foundation with an interest in child development.
As noted by Dr. Jackman, “I just believe that the more we understand about how to raise children, how to educate them, the better off they are going to be. We have to find out how to do it – how the brain develops, how kids grow up, and how to educate them best.â€
