York research shows homelessness increases mental health risk

Research led by York improves access to mental health care for immigrants
A team led by 快播视频 researcher Professor Farah Ahmad has developed a new interactive eHealth tool to facilitate the pre-consult assessment of mental health disorders for immigrants and refugees. The tool addresses disparities in access to mental health care for vulnerable ethnocultural and immigrant groups by providing additional support through interactive, computer-based self-assessments.

Sean Hillier, assistant professor in the Faculty of Health, appointed co-chair of the Indigenous Council
Faculty of Health Professor Sean Hillier has been appointed co-chair of the Indigenous Council at 快播视频. Hillier is a queer Mi鈥檏maw scholar from the Qalipu First Nation. Hillier is a former CIHR doctoral scholar in the area Indigenous Peoples living with HIV. His research focuses on how policy shapes and impacts access to and utilization of health care for Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

York collaborates on international post-pandemic recovery research
快播视频 Associate Professor Claudia Chaufan will collaborate with a group of interdisciplinary researchers to investigate post-pandemic recovery and best practices for future global emergencies with a grant from the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF). The $500,000 award was announced as part of the Government of Canada鈥檚 NFRF鈥檚 2022 Special Calls stream, which aims to support emerging research as needed.

Caregiver: Professor Matthias Hoben inaugurates a new endowed Chair in Dementia Care
When Matthias Hoben came across a job posting for the newly created Helen Carswell Chair in Dementia Care at 快播视频 last year, he couldn鈥檛 believe his eyes. 鈥淚t just seemed to be tailored to me,鈥 he says, 鈥渁s if somebody saw my profile and my interests and wrote that position.鈥 Awarded in July, York鈥檚 newly endowed Chair in Dementia Care is based at the School of Health Policy and Management.
