Artificial intelligence (AI), inclusivity and sustainability are driving eight emerging tech startups supported through a new SmartTO and YSpace program.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The program, titled Smart Mobility Tech Accelerator (SMTA), is led by 快播视频\u2019s SmartTO<\/a> \u2013 the newest Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network Regional Technology Development Site (RTDS) \u2013 in collaboration with entrepreneurship and innovation hub YSpace<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eight startups that want to transform the transportation landscape were selected for the program that began last fall to grow and scale their innovations. In an era where technology and sustainability intersect, these companies are not just working toward enhancing mobility; they\u2019re aiming to redefine it through technologies like artificial intelligence for a more efficient, inclusive and environmentally friendly future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entrepreneurs behind the eight startups are currently receiving four months of comprehensive support which includes a dedicated mentor, hands-on workshops, office hours with growth advisors and investors and the opportunity to access advanced facilities and labs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new accelerator is one of the first of its kind in Ontario focused on supporting automotive and smart mobility technology startups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Smart Mobility Tech Accelerator program marks a major step forward in advancing automotive and mobility innovations,\u201d said Amir Asif<\/strong>, vice-president of research and innovation. \u201cAt York, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusivity and sustainability while championing the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future. We\u2019re thrilled to support these pioneering startups, providing them with the resources and collaborative environment needed to drive meaningful change in the mobility sector and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eight startups in the program are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deaf AI<\/a>, which is creating digital human avatars to serve as sign language interpreters for deaf passengers. Its AI-driven technology ensures that transportation systems are accessible, allowing individuals who use sign language to confidently navigate travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RideAlike<\/a>, which champions inclusivity by fostering community-driven car sharing. Its platform not only offers flexible transportation options, but also engages neighbours, creating stronger, environmentally conscious communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevares Autonomous Services<\/a>, which is tackling sustainability through innovative robotic solutions for public spaces, such as autonomous lawn-mowing and snow removal. By reducing the need for gas-powered equipment, it not only address labour shortages but also lower carbon footprints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCOOTY<\/a>, which is also furthering sustainability with their Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, deploying zero-emission e-scooters and e-bikes that integrate with public transit systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiwi Charge<\/a>, which with its autonomous mobile elective vehicle (EV) charging solutions, is empowering property managers and building owners to contribute to a cleaner future, making EV charging accessible and scalable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aeroport AI<\/a>, which is leveraging real-time video analysis to optimize ground operations in aviation. Its AI-driven solutions, including advanced turnaround management systems, reduce delays and enhance efficiency, exemplifying the integration of smart technology in traditional sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quantuity Analytics<\/a> employs AI and internet-of-things (IoT) edge smart sensors to enhance compliance and road safety. The company\u2019s advanced devices collect and process data locally to facilitate quicker and safer pre-trip inspections for commercial drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Real Life Robotics<\/a> further exemplifies this trend by utilizing AI to orchestrate last-mile delivery \u2013 the last step in the delivery process, with autonomous drones and sidewalk robots, optimizing routes and ensuring efficient service for businesses and consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The support and resources provided by the SMTA program seek to not only foster the growth of these startups, but ensure their solutions contribute to a more connected, equitable and eco-friendly transportation ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As these startups continue to develop their transformative technologies, they will share their innovations from the stage on March 26<\/strong> at Demo Day, hosted at The Well in Toronto, and pitch them to attending investors. The event marks the culmination of the four-month accelerator program, as well as the celebration of another initiative \u2013 the SmartTO Innovation Challenge<\/a>, where entrepreneurs will pitch their solutions to a panel of investors, industry experts and potential partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demo Day provides a critical platform for showcasing AI-driven, sustainable and inclusive innovations, with awards recognizing excellence in impact and scalability. The event offers startups visibility and a step toward turning groundbreaking ideas into real-world solutions that could shape the future of transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
