She and her research team are gathering and analyzing new data to develop strategies that will shed light on how \u201cability\u201d is used to justify student organization within schools and the inequitable distribution of in-school resources and opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"295\" height=\"391\" src=\"https:\/\/yfile.news.yorku.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/JoelZ.jpg\" alt=\"Joel Zylberberg\" class=\"wp-image-265693\" style=\"width:144px;height:191px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Joel Zylberberg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Joel Zylberberg is a renewed Tier II CRC in Computational Neuroscience and an associate professor in the Faculty of Science<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Zylberberg and his research team train artificial intelligence (AI) to see and respond to images in the same way as the human brain. By teaching AI to process visual information like the brain\u2019s visual cortex, deep learning algorithms could lead to the creation of devices that help visually impaired or blind people see again, in addition to potentially advancing technology for self-driving cars.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>York\u2019s Chairholders received $2,400,000 and are part of a $94,500,000 investment in 121 new and renewed CRCs at 39 institutions across Canada.
