As such, the&nbsp;related&nbsp;consultation and education&nbsp;sessions&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;wound down.&nbsp;The University will continue every effort to enhance safety on our campuses. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Community Safety 快播视频 team&nbsp;also continues&nbsp;advancing several initiatives and SSR-related recommendations. Please note that enhanced perimeter access\/secure card access enhancements have been brought forward as other options&nbsp;to&nbsp;strengthen the safety of our campus buildings while&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;access for academic uses and student life; however,&nbsp;consideration&nbsp;and consultation is ongoing. The University will seek input and engagement in advance of any potential changes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In February 2022, 快播视频 formed an internal expert panel to undertake a review of its security services and to develop an alternative security services model for the University.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The security services review emerged in response to a long history of concerns from equity-deserving groups about security activity at 快播视频, including feelings of racial discrimination and harassment, shared experiences of racial profiling and surveillance on campus and general lack of support.&nbsp;&nbsp;In response, York released its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/abr\/action-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Action Plan on Black <\/em>inclusion<em>: A Living Document for Action<\/em><\/a> in December 2021 and identified a thorough review of York\u2019s security services as a commitment and action.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a one-year review period, York\u2019s internal expert panel completed its review of the University\u2019s security services and provided a number of recommendations to transition York to an alternative security services tools needed to measure, address gaps, and report on representation of York Security Services staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address gaps in representation with equity-focused recruitment, selection, and promotion measures, such as revising job descriptions to include the value of equity-deserving group identity and experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a dedicated position to coordinate response to individuals experiencing homelessness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#e31837\">Address ongoing issues of anti-racism and incorporate DEDI<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop a dedicated standard operating procedure and accompanying training to prevent racial profiling&nbsp;in safety operations and activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Incorporate anti-racial profiling elements in all relevant practices and standard operating procedure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider specialized Call Centre staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review communication and information sharing practices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#e31837\">Other community-focused actions<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Incorporate non-uniformed responses to calls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build sufficient community engagement expertise and class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Project Governance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To move forward with implementation of the recommendations, York has established a suite of committees who will be jointly responsible for developing a multi-year action plan.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Sponsorship Committee<\/strong> \u2013 Provides high-level oversight, ensures institutional support, addresses barriers and challenges, makes key decisions and provides quarterly updates to the President Vice-Presidents (PVP) on progress in accordance with the mandate received by the President on receipt of the Security Services Report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Implementation Committee<\/strong>\u2013 Manages the project, coordinates change initiatives, facilitates communication between committees, provides expertise, and reports to the Sponsorship Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advisory Group<\/strong> \u2013 Provides strategic advice on action planning and change implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Comprised of 快播视频 academics, staff and students with expertise on Anti-Black racism, racial profiling, diversity, inclusion, intersectionality, social justice, and policing\/security, and lived experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Working Sub-Committees <\/strong>\u2013 Focus on specific change initiatives related to key recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul
