  {"id":9248,"date":"2026-02-04T14:52:46","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T19:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/research\/tubman\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=9248"},"modified":"2026-02-04T14:52:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T19:52:47","slug":"jude-idada","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/research\/tubman\/profile\/jude-idada\/","title":{"rendered":"Jude Idada"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jude Idada is a winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature, an AMAA best screenplay award, an AMAA for Best Film by An African in the Diaspora, an AFRIFF Globe best screenplay award, and an ANA prize for Drama alongside several other awards.<br><br>Amongst others, Jude was selected as one of the writers for the University of Iowa International Writers Program, the TIFF \u2018Adapt This\u201d project, Afrinolly\/Ford Foundation \u2018Cinema4Change\u2019 project, New Directions Filmmakers of the future project by MNET and the Relativity Media\/AFRIFF Filmmaking project.<br><br>His films, The Tenant, Queen of the Night and Kofa have won various awards around the world. In addition to this, he has written feature films and television series for various multinational entertainment organizations, like StudioCanal, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.<br><br>He has written and published a collection of short stories \u201cA Box of Chocolates\u201d, an anthology of poetry \u201cExotica Celestica\u201d, three stage plays \u201cOduduwa \u2013 King of the Edos,\u201d \u201cSankara\u201d and \u201cL\u2019Otor \u2013 The Devils Pilgrimage, the first book in a trilogy of novels \u201cBy My Own Hands\u201d, a memoiresque novel \u201cThe Debate\u201d and two children\u2019s books \u201cDidi Kanu and the Singing Dwarfs of the North\u201d and \u201cBoom Boom\u201d along with ghostwriting several biographies.<br><br>He is a member of the Nigeria Oscar Selection Committee, and was the Chair of the Jury of the Coal City Film Festival, the Witsprouts Storytelling Prize and the head judge of the Quramo Writers Prize.
