Dear members of the York community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am pleased to share that yesterday, the University\u2019s Board of Governors approved Living Well Together: Keele Campus Vision and Strategy<\/em><\/a>, a foundational document that sets a clear path forward for re-imagining more than 190 acres on York\u2019s Keele campus.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centered on the priorities identified within the University Academic Plan 2020\u20132025: Building a Better Future<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>and underscored by our commitment to addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we have an opportunity to strengthen our impact as a university, and to further our vision of providing a broad sociodemographic of students with access to a high-quality education at a research-intensive university that is committed to enhancing the well-being of the communities we serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent world events have influenced our thinking regarding sustainability, equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation. Living Well Together: Keele Campus Vision and Strategy<\/em> embraces social and environmental responsibility, placing emphasis on projects that help us realize the aspirations of our academic plan, fulfill our commitment to being carbon neutral by 2049 or sooner, and leverage York\u2019s Social Procurement Policy<\/a> to maximize the positive impact of such a large-scale project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also inspired by our reflections over these past 18 months regarding the future of higher education and how to enhance efforts to utilize the resources we have to strengthen the student learning experience; support new programs in emerging areas of need; and intensify research, entrepreneurship, and incubation, while also meeting community needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These uncertain times also serve as an important reminder that the plan must be a living document, open to revision as circumstances demand and shaped by ongoing consultation and engagement conversations within our community, with our surrounding neighbours and future neighbours, and with other important partners, like community groups, governments, and developers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Living Well Together: Keele Campus Vision and Strategy<\/em> begins with the reinvigoration of the Harry W. Arthurs Common, the heart of the campus and the location of the 快播视频 subway stop. The plan also sets out four new neighbourhoods: a commercial centre, a high-tech district, a primarily residential district, and a mixed-use residential, commercial, and athletic neighbourhood adjacent to the Pioneer Village subway stop. Each of the new neighbourhoods will add complementary features and projects that support the University\u2019s academic mission and deliver social benefits like affordable housing and community services \u2014 amenities that will serve the York community, our neighbours, and new residents alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 21st century university campus has an important role to play as an anchor institution \u2014 as a hub, as a resource for surrounding communities, and as a place to learn and grow. This is a once in a lifetime chance to envision, shape, and develop a truly community-engaged university campus: intentionally inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and welcoming to diverse communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the 快播视频 Board of Governors having approved the new Keele Campus Vision and Strategy, we can move forward with the consultation and engagement on preparing a plan for how best to implement the strategy. I look forward to moving this exciting plan forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je suis heureuse de vous annoncer que le Conseil d\u2019administration de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 a approuv\u00e9 hier le plan Bien vivre ensemble : Vision et strat\u00e9gie du campus Keele<\/em><\/a>, un document cl\u00e9 d\u00e9finissant clairement la voie \u00e0 suivre pour r\u00e9imaginer plus de 77 hectares de terrain sur le campus Keele de York. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce plan est centr\u00e9 sur les priorit\u00e9s d\u00e9finies dans le Plan acad\u00e9mique de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 2020-2025 : B\u00e2tir un avenir meilleur<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>et sur notre engagement envers le respect des objectifs de d\u00e9veloppement durable des Nations Unies. Il nous donne l\u2019occasion de renforcer notre incidence en tant qu\u2019universit\u00e9 et de faire avancer notre vision de fournir l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 une \u00e9ducation de grande qualit\u00e9 dans une universit\u00e9 ax\u00e9e sur la recherche et vou\u00e9e au bien collectif \u00e0 un vaste bassin d\u00e9mographique d\u2019\u00e9tudiants, tout en nous engageant \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer le mieux-\u00eatre des communaut\u00e9s que nous servons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les r\u00e9cents \u00e9v\u00e9nements mondiaux ont influenc\u00e9 notre r\u00e9flexion sur la durabilit\u00e9, l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9, la diversit\u00e9, l\u2019inclusion et la r\u00e9conciliation. Bien vivre ensemble :<\/em> Vision et strat\u00e9gie du campus Keele<\/em> englobe la responsabilit\u00e9 sociale et environnementale, met l\u2019accent sur les projets qui contribuent \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser les aspirations de notre plan acad\u00e9mique et \u00e0 atteindre la neutralit\u00e9 carbone d\u2019ici 2049 ou plus t\u00f4t et s\u2019appuie sur la Politique d\u2019approvisionnement social<\/a> de York pour maximiser l\u2019incidence positive d\u2019un projet de cette envergure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il s\u2019inspire \u00e9galement des r\u00e9flexions que nous avons men\u00e9es au cours de ces 18 derniers mois sur l\u2019avenir de l\u2019enseignement sup\u00e9rieur et sur la mani\u00e8re d\u2019intensifier les efforts visant \u00e0 utiliser les ressources dont nous disposons afin de consolider l\u2019exp\u00e9rience d\u2019apprentissage des \u00e9tudiants, de soutenir de nouveaux programmes dans des domaines de besoins \u00e9mergents et d\u2019intensifier la recherche, l\u2019entrepreneuriat et l\u2019incubation, tout en r\u00e9pondant aux besoins de la communaut\u00e9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ces temps incertains nous rappellent \u00e9galement que le plan doit \u00eatre un document \u00e9volutif, ouvert \u00e0 la r\u00e9vision en fonction des circonstances et la pierre d\u2019assise des futures conversations de consultation et d\u2019engagement au sein de notre communaut\u00e9, avec nos voisins et futurs voisins et avec d\u2019autres partenaires importants, comme les groupes communautaires, les gouvernements et les d\u00e9veloppeurs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bien vivre ensemble : Vision et strat\u00e9gie du campus Keele<\/em> commence par la revitalisation du Harry W. Arthurs Common, le c\u0153ur du campus et l\u2019emplacement de l\u2019arr\u00eat de m\u00e9tro 快播视频. Le plan pr\u00e9voit \u00e9galement la cr\u00e9ation de quatre nouveaux quartiers : un centre commercial, un district de haute technologie, un district principalement r\u00e9sidentiel et un district \u00e0 usage mixte (r\u00e9sidentiel, commercial et sportif) adjacent \u00e0 l\u2019arr\u00eat de m\u00e9tro Pioneer Village. Chacun des nouveaux quartiers ajoutera des caract\u00e9ristiques et des projets compl\u00e9mentaires qui soutiendront la mission acad\u00e9mique de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 et qui offriront des avantages sociaux comme des logements abordables et des services communautaires, am\u00e9nagements qui serviront \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 de York, \u00e0 nos voisins et aux nouveaux r\u00e9sidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un campus universitaire du 21e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle a un r\u00f4le important \u00e0 jouer en tant qu\u2019institution d\u2019ancrage, de plaque tournante, de ressource pour les communaut\u00e9s environnantes et de lieu d\u2019apprentissage et de d\u00e9veloppement. C\u2019est une chance inou\u00efe d\u2019imaginer, de fa\u00e7onner et de d\u00e9velopper un campus universitaire v\u00e9ritablement engag\u00e9 envers la communaut\u00e9 : intentionnellement inclusif, \u00e9cologiquement durable et accueillant pour les diverses communaut\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Conseil d\u2019administration de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 York ayant approuv\u00e9 la nouvelle vision et strat\u00e9gie du campus Keele, nous entamerons le processus de consultation et d\u2019engagement en \u00e9laborant un plan pour la mise en \u0153uvre de la strat\u00e9gie. J\u2019ai h\u00e2te de voir progresser ce projet passionnant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
