Dr. Carys Craig stepped into the role of Director of IP Osgoode in January 2023. As faculty member at Osgoode since 2002, and a founding member of IP Osgoode, Dr. Craig brings to the role a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for teaching, researching, mentoring, and mobilizing knowledge in the field of intellectual property law and technology. She served as Osgoode's Associate Dean (Research & Institutional Relations) in 2014-17 and 2023-25. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An internationally recognized scholar in the field, she is the author of Copyright, Communication & Culture: Towards a Relational Theory of Copyright Law<\/em><\/a> (2011), and the co-editor of Trade-marks and Unfair Competition Law: Cases and Commentary<\/em><\/a>, 2nd ed. (2014) and Copyright: Cases and Commentary on the Canadian and International Law<\/em><\/a>, 2nd ed. (2013). Recent publications include, e.g.<\/em> \"The AI-Copyright Trap<\/a>\", in the Chicago-Kent Law Review Symposium Issue on 'AI Disrupting Law<\/a>',100\u00a0Chi.-Kent L. Rev.\u00a0107 (2025); \u201cTransforming Total Concept and Feel: Dialogic Authorship, Copying and the \u2018New Work<\/a>\u2019\u201d, in 38 Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal<\/em> 603-654 (2021); \u201cThe Death of the AI Author<\/a>\u201d with Ian Kerr, 52(1) Ottawa Law Review 33-86 (2021); and \u201cAI and Copyright<\/a>\u201d in Martin-Bariteau & Scassa (eds), Artificial Intelligence and the Law in Canada<\/em> (2021). Dr. Craig is frequently invited to share her work and expertise with academic audiences, professional organizations, policymakers, and the press, while her publications are regularly cited, including in several landmark rulings by the Supreme Court of Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Founding Director of IP Osgoode and the IP Innovation Clinic, Prof. Giuseppina (Pina) D\u2019Agostino is a law professor, lawyer, author, public speaker, board director and recognized scholar at Osgoode Hall Law School<\/a>, ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ<\/a> specializing in intellectual property (IP), technology and innovation law and policy. She joined Osgoode Hall in 2006 and is regularly called by Canadian and foreign governments for advice, has testified before Parliament and is a widely published author, regularly serves as a consultant and is a cited authority at the Supreme Court of Canada and in various media. She serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Intellectual Property Journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She began her legal career as an Associate in a large Toronto law firm and was later recruited into the Canadian Government by the Recruitment of Policy Leaders (RPL) as a Senior Policy Analyst working on copyright policy. Prof. D\u2019Agostino is Co-Director of ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ's AI & Society Research Centre<\/a>. Her publications include Copyright, Contract, Creators: New Media, New Rules<\/a>, The Common Law of Intellectual Property: Essays in Honour of Professor David Vaver<\/a><\/em> and Leading Legal Disruption: Artificial Intelligence and a Toolkit for Lawyers and the Law <\/em><\/a>(with A Gaon and C Piovesan).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
