A birth certificate is often required to apply for other ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three types of birth certificates in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Birth certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Birth certificate with parental information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certified copy of birth registration<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Get One?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Someone born in Ontario whose birth was registered in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for a birth certificate on behalf of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yourself, if you are 13+<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your child, if you are named as a parent on the birth registration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A child if you are the legal guardian<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tip: The applicant should gather information regarding their parent\u2019s full name, date of birth, and place of birth before applying!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guarantor Requirement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for a birth certificate, the applicant will need someone to act as a guarantor if the subject of the birth certificate is older than 9. A guarantor attests to the subjects identity.
