Student Health & Wellness Mentor

Rate of Pay: $17.75 - $19.50 

Hours: Fall/Winter: Up to 15hrs/week Summer: Up to 35hrs/week

Work Location: ¿ì²¥ÊÓÆµ Markham Campus – 1 University Blvd, Markham, ON 

Job Purpose: 

The Student Health & Wellness Mentor is responsible for providing peer support by sharing information and promoting programs and strategies for maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

Lead Duties: 

Under the direction of a permanent staff member, the Student Health & Wellness Mentor may be responsible for some or all the following tasks: 

  • Identify student needs and make informed referrals to health, wellness and fitness resources on campus.
  • Assist with planning, organizing and executing campus events.
  • Facilitate group sessions to disseminate information on evidence based best practices on specific topics including resiliency, time management, and personal health and wellbeing.
  • Promote awareness and assist students with obtaining information about available programs and services on campus.
  • Share experiences, guidance and information through mentorship conversations and presentations.
  • Assist students with monitoring progress and tracking changes.
  • Track and input program-related data for statistical analysis.
  • Stay well informed about emerging and diverse programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
