The Graduate Diploma in Management (GDM) provides students who have non-business background with a robust understanding of the field of management and key skills required in managing an organization. Through a set of modules, students are introduced to the major areas in management \u2013 organizational theory, marketing, accounting, finance, operations management, management information systems, organizational behavior, and law \u2013 and hone their skills and knowledge in a capstone course that addresses real-life organizational problems. Students interested in public sector management can substitute two business-specific modules with two modules specific to the public sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Graduate Diploma in Management can be taken as a direct-entry diploma for candidates who seek to advance their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GDM also provides non-business graduates as well as individuals that have degrees from non-Canadian institutions with the pre-requisites required to stream seamlessly into the Master of Science in Management Practice (MScMP) program offered by the School of Administrative Studies or other accredited graduate programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program Structure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The program can be completed in two semesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first semester, students will take 6 functional modules, 1.5 credits each. The second semester is dedicated to the final two functional modules, after which the students will complete an experiential learning capstone course. The total program length is 2 terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students have a choice of focusing strictly on business management or can instead pursue a not-for-profit\/public management by replacing two business-related modules with two specialized modules.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Markham Campus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The program is offered at York Learning Space at the Markham Campus (1 University Blvd., Markham, ON L6G 0A1). Classes are offered on weekdays afternoons and evenings (4-7 and 7-10 pm).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
