We encourage participants to explore how meaning, identity, power, and resistance are structured, or disrupted, through various cultural, technological, media, and communicative systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are particularly interested in research and creative work that addresses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How media systems encode cultural norms or biases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The relationship between communication infrastructures and power<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interventions that reimagine dominant narratives or reframe access<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artistic or scholarly methods for decoding or reconfiguring systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Potential topics may include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Smart cities, urban imaginaries, and spatial politics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surveillance, data, and algorithmic bias<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Postcolonial and Indigenous media practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visual culture, spectatorship, and representation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Popular music, soundscapes, and sonic resistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media infrastructures and digital governance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environmental media, petrocultures, and sustainability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communication policy and cultural regulation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative practice as research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media and conflict, peacebuilding, and misinformation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome proposals for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paper Presentations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poster Presentations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative Artwork (film, multimedia, installation, performance, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Both ongoing and completed research or creative projects are welcome. Presentations will be grouped into small sessions of 3 or 4 presenters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each presenter will have <strong>up to 15 minutes<\/strong> to present their work. After all presentations within the session are finished, the moderator will facilitate a brief Q&amp;A and discussion, engaging with both the presenters and the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading h3\"><strong>Deadline\/Notification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submit your proposal by 4:30 p.m. (ET) on <strong>Monday, November 10, 2025<\/strong><br>To submit, please complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdKmh0268bVi98Qx7P1eVQ2Dlhk86T_NrvKS_wbLVU6xKVTnA\/viewform?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=105570182983190965309\">Google Form.<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will be notified of the status of your submission by <strong>Friday, November 21, 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading h3\"><strong>Conference location<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>快播视频<br>Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Building (DB), Lower Level<br>86 Fine Arts Rd., North York, Ontario M3J 3M6<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is an in-person event. <\/strong>There is no fee to attend or present at the conference.
