Glendon professor publishes book on new ways of understanding contemporary feminisms

A new book by Professor Jacinthe Michaud highlights the innovative research happening across diverse fields of study at Glendon Campus. The book, Frontiers of Feminism: Movements and influences in Québec and Italy, 1960-80 (UBC Press, 2021), analyzes two types of feminisms – Québécois and Italian – that have never been compared.

Glendon Professor Gertrude Mianda appointed director of the Harriet Tubman Institute

Professor Gertrude Mianda has been appointed the new director of the at �첥��Ƶ. Mianda’s appointment went into effect on July 1.

Mianda is an associate professor in the Gender and Women’s Studies program at Glendon Campus. She also served as the chair of the School of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at �첥��Ƶ from 2011-15. Mianda has a PhD in sociology in gender and development from Université Laval in Quebec City.

The Harriet Tubman Institute for Research on Africa and its Diasporas at �첥��Ƶ is committed to the understanding of the history of slavery and its legacy. It also fosters inter- and multi-disciplinary approaches.
