The Jane-Finch TSNS Task Force<\/a><\/strong>
Community response to the Toronto Strong Neighborhoods Strategy 2020: What neighborhood improvement looks like from the perspective of residents in Jane-Finch<\/em>

The purpose of this document is to produce a Jane Finch community-led response to the Toronto Strong Neighbourhoods Strategy 2020 (TSNS), produced by the City of Toronto. The aim of this research-based project has been to define what \u201cimprovement\u201d of Jane-Finch should look like, from the community residents\u2019 point of view according to the City\u2019s three key indicators: Healthy Lives, Economic Opportunities and Social Development. Each neighbourhood in the TSNS study was given a potential score, based on a range from 0 to 100, with actual scores ranging from 92.0 to 21.38, and with communities with a score below 42.89 identified as Neighbourhood Improvement Areas. The lowest score of 21.38 is that of the Black Creek neighbourhood, while the second lowest score of 24.39 is of the Glenfield \u2013 Jane Heights area, both of which are located within Jane Finch.

Rethinking Housing Market Financing in the Aftermath of Covid-19<\/strong>: Lessons and Responses to the Pandemic<\/strong><\/a>

This Mitacs report focuses on the impact of Covid-19 on Toronto's housing market. Since the early 2000s, Toronto has been experiencing an affordability crisis. The main reason for this crisis is the existing economic growth model based on financialization of housing, and this report focuses on the key parameters of the affordability crisis in Toronto. The report also argues that Covid-19 has exacerbated the housing crisis in Toronto as the existing housing model has already been fragile and based on a market-oriented approach that excludes the vulnerable communities. Finally, there is a short discussion, at the end of this report, on what kind of solutions could be proposed to overcome the existing affordability crisis.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
