The on-the-ground projects listed below connect with people outside of academia and improve outcomes for bees. Beekeepers and government regulators lack the appropriate tools to quickly diagnose and differentiate among the multiple stressors impacting colonies, which has hindered their ability to manage and improve bee health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Genome Canada funded project aims to improve the health of honey bees by developing BeeCSI - a new health assessment and diagnosis platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Professors <strong>Amro Zayed<\/strong> (¿ì²¥ÊÓÆµ) and Leonard Foster (University of British Columbia), our team of researchers from 5 provinces across Canada is performing experiments to identify biomarkers for specific stressors. Our biomarkers can then be used to quickly screen for stressors affecting bees before colonies decline. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column card rounded-0 is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image mb-0\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"http:\/\/findingflowers.ca\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"234\" height=\"244\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/bees\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/237\/2021\/09\/Screenshot-2021-09-21-112004.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1973\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group card-body\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"card-title font-weight-bold\"><a href=\"http:\/\/findingflowers.ca\/\">Finding Flowers Project<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFinding Flowers\u201d, focusses on pollinator conservation through ecology, art and pedagogy and aims to take a biocultural and interdisciplinary approach to investigate plant-pollinator biodiversity in Canada, while also expanding Indigenous art history and curatorial practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Planting Together: Finding Flowers&#039;
